Been so inspired by flowers lately especially these ones from Saipua a NY city flower boutique. Instead of yoga today I’m going to work in the garden while the sun is up and maybe go for a run later.

Well the new year is zooming ahead. I have put some thought into this blog and I’m working hard to come up with a redesign for 2011. Right now I’m in the brainstorming stage… It can get a little overwhelming when you think about it: new logo design, new platform (possibly), new camera (eventually), new exciting content (hopefully). I’ve been a little bit of a hermit lately due to the more recent news about my dad. It looks like I will be making some trips out to snowy Michigan in the coming months and possibly a trip to Europe in late June if we can swing it. Stay tuned.
”..you don’t always start in the place you think you’ll end up” this is something that is resonating with me lately as I approach the big 30 next month. The founder of apartment therapy Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan on Creative Mornings.

Just watched a beautiful design blog podcast about the Island of Gotland in Sweeden. You can download it for free in Itunes or check it out here.
Just checked this book out from the library. Seems interesting so far! Another great video by Xplane. enjoy.
About a month ago I had the chance to visit some friends and their unique guest home in the foot hills of laguna beach. I was really inspired by our conversation and we got to the topic of modular housing. Having the chance to hear Leo Marmol speak the year before last (Feb 2009 post) I felt very excited about this conversation. They told us they had recently purchased a parcel of land and were planning to build their modular home their completely off the grid after visiting this place. I was so very inspired by this and for weeks have been dreaming of what my modular home will look like. I’ve recently decided that I would prefer to no longer rent. I’ve decided to keep saving until I can make (one-day) a whole heartly “home” decision. Until then these are the two homes I’m completely in love with: “Rock the House” by Studio Ensamble (top) and “The Clara Cabin” by Hive Modular (bottom)
Not sure if it’s my busy schedule of training for another half-marathon, volunteering, designing, soccer, or the yoga-30-day challenge, but I’ve recently found a totally new amount of joy and contentment. I’ve had the time to sit back and sip my tea while reading magazines, sketching ideas, listening to audiobooks and watching amazing acts of strength. I’ve been meditating on this excerpt recently and it gives me a sense of calm whenever I struggle with the motivation of setting my own pace/work day. Because let’s face it even when your job ends your work is just beginning.
“My suggestion is that you start with the love and then work very hard and try to let go of the results. Cast out your will, and then cut the line. Please try, also, not to go totally freaking insane in the process. Insanity is a very tempting path for artists, but we don’t need any more of that in the world at the moment, so please resist your call to insanity. We need more creation, not more destruction. We need our artists more than ever, and we need them to be stable, steadfast, honorable and brave – they are our soldiers, our hope” - Elizabeth Gilbert

Back home again, one more (working) year completed. This has been a very inspiring week so far! It’s like my whole body is down shifting from the frenetic pace of this last few months. My lovely sister got married last sunday and I had the exciting experience of being a bridesmaid for the very first time! Now her and her new hubby are enjoying hawaii while I get to figure out my place (away from work) and their very cute dog. I’m already enjoying the quietness. Over the next few months I will be working intently on designing my new website and putting together my portfolio. Please stay tuned as I hope to share more of my graphic skills here and connect with more people online.
Last week I was invited to go berry-picking with my man-friend. In his parents front yard. Yes I think they may be the only people on their street that have a small (actually rather large) garden growing in front of their house. Right now it’s just berries. We decided to take advantage of the long summer light and pick as many as possible. The next day we ran/walked miles, jumped into the lake and returned home to make the berries into jam. It was quite the adventure. Everything looks good and now we have 10 jars of both black raspberry and red raspberry jam. I could not get over the colors. If I had more time I would have tried to die my clothing these beautiful colors. They reminded me of a yummy candy I got in italy.
