Last summer while traveling in Italy, I noticed a huge trend of friendship bracelets. In Italy there is a myriad of street vendors in most major cities that hit you up as you walk out of the train station. Many of them are immigrants selling hand made bracelets. I told my friend Laurel that once I found a real street vendor I would buy her a friendship bracelet. Well we ended up finding one in Pisa, towards a somewhat unplanned time during our travels. At this time I bought one for her for one euro, she decided to buy one for me. The man who sold it too us told us said “When the bracelet falls off, you will return to Italy.” We really liked this idea and decided to promise to keep them on as long as we could. Well now being almost ten months later, mine and hers are still on. We do have some talks about returning, but the true time will tell when bracelets come off.
